The Tinnie
Shack was established in 2000, as a small family owned business by Dean and
Carla Grieve. The experience of this business rests with Dean, who is a
qualified marine mechanic with over 30 years experience. Being a mad keen
fisherman and owning several boats over the years, Dean wanted to start a
marine business that had a focus on selling the best brands and styles of
fishing boats, that take into consideration the clients needs and budget.
There
are no gimmicks or pushy salesman, just experience and an ability to
understand each clients needs. We work with highly recommended mechanics (or
your preferred mechanic), throughout the country, so we are able to assist
our clients no matter where your location.
We have
done all the research for you already. Our range of boats are the best
manufactured in that price range, and the warranty is an actual real
warranty. The vessels are produced with the best materials available, by
experienced staff working to produce YOUR fishing boat to YOUR spec's.
The Tinnie
Shack is situated in beautiful Mission Beach, on the coast between Cairns
and Townsville. A stunning place to live, a great place to visit -
especially on long weekends, so why not come up for a test ride, we will put
the kettle on for you......

Honda outboard dealer’s conference, held at Sea World
Nara Resort last November.
In ten short
years Carla and Dean Grieve have developed their start up
business, The Tinnie Shack, at Mission Beach, to become
Queensland Honda Dealer of the Year in 2010. The dynamic couple
were flown to the Gold Coast in mid November to receive their
award at the Honda outboard dealer’s conference, held at Sea
World Nara Resort. The Tinnie Shack has only been selling Honda
outboards for three years and have grown their business in that
short time to be the biggest seller of high horsepower Honda
outboards in Queensland last year.
Carla and Dean started
The Tinnie Shack from scratch in 2000, with Carla running the shop front and
Dean, a qualified mechanic, running the workshop. Carla is one of the very
few female marine saleswomen in the country. She has also grown an enormous
reputation as a star of ABC Local Radio’s Fishtalk program, on both the
Queensland wide show and the North Queensland program, and is heavily
involved in promoting women in fishing. Carla and Dean are both fanatical
anglers and are particularly active in the game fishing community where both
have been tournament winners. Dean has on numerous occasions taken out
titles at a North Queensland level and Carla won Champion Angler at last
year’s Mission Beach Game Fishing Tournament.
The dynamic duo have
grown their family run business to now employ six full time staff and they
enjoy a formidable reputation for specializing in the sale of plate alloy
boats; being the only dealership in the country to do so. The Tinnie Shack
is North Queensland dealers for Formosa, AMM and Yalta Craft boats and carry
a comprehensive range of these craft on display. They also sell chandlery,
tackle, seafood, and new and second hand boats, motors and trailers from
their premises at South Mission Beach. They operate a boat storage facility
on site and are also heavily involved in boat design, research and
development, as well as building their own brand of aluminium trailers.
The Tinnie Shack has
developed an excellent reputation for service in the recreational,
commercial and tourism sectors and has maintained very strong trading
through the recent financial downturn. The company will be in good hands in
coming years with their son, James, just completing his qualifications as a
marine mechanic.
