4mm bottoms, 3mm sides.
The extra thick hull of a Formosa, offers the strength value and smoother ride offered in plate models while still keeping a family friendly design found in pressed models.
Formosa Marine Design Qualities
Fully welded side decks
— not stitched.
Welded side decks offer greater hull rigidity, easy clean decks and better paint longevity.
Aluminium Cabins,
Anchor Wells and Dashs
For strength and longevity, a boat should be made out of the same material as much as possible. That is why when it comes to our cabins, dash, wells and instrument panels we only use factory manufactured, fully welded aluminium components.
Longitudinal Hull Structure
Unlike most similarly priced
boats, the hull structure in a Formosa boat is welded to the bottom sheets
and reinforced with longitudinal hull strengtheners. The advantage of this
process is increased hull strength and consistency in hull shape — resulting
in better performance and a more solid ride
Internal transom welds
The Transom area of your boat is constantly under great pressure due to the weight and torque forces of the motor and is an important area for good plaining surface. To ensure that your transom can undertake many years of wear and consistency in shape, our transom areas are also welded on the inside — not stitched.
Oil sealed carpet floors
The advantage of using carpeted ply wood floor is that you can get a lower hull weight (less HP required), easy underfloor access and the cost of boat manufacturer is considerably less. This is why plywood floors are the most popular choice of flooring for pressed style boats. However unlike Aluminium, Plywood is susceptible to warping and rotting if not properly cared. To improve the longevity of our plywood floors, before carpeting we seal all surfaces with a deep treat application to minimize the possibility of mildew growth — a forbearer of future floor damage.
Deeper
sides and wide beams
Some manufacturers have
creative ways of measuring their boats, so the only true way to know is hop
in and compare. The first thing you will notice is the extra freeboard
height, particularly in our 5.2m and 5.5m range or the extra wide beam
across the whole Formosa range. This adds to a greater underfoot stability
and a smoother and drier run in choppy conditions. Better still, you may
find that with our freeboard space, our boats can provide just as much room
as the next size up in our competitor’s boats.
